In The Studio – Virtually
Just wanted to share what I’ve been doing lately as far as studio work with my fellow CMNers in this new age of working together virtually. Even though I’ve worked virtually for years creating and mixing songs with several artists, I have not done a lot of actual recording via the internet…until now! Issues with delay and video connectivity in the past has made recording not quite the quality I’d want for a project. But that has changed through some new tools and innovations.
A while back Katherine Dines was asked to contribute harmony tracks for Latin GRAMMY Award-Winning Mister G’s new wonderful album “Children Of The World.” Katherine and I set up a time to complete her interface setup at her home while I advised over Zoom. Then I was able to devise a way that we could run our own recording session where I controlled the vocal tracks from my studio while recording in real-time Katherine’s vocal from her home studio. Then we listened, refined and eventually came up with some nice sounding harmony tracks that I sent on to Ben for the final mix for the album. Was very close to the way I would have done it in person! Check out the track “Seeds Of Shalom” on the finished album. Thank you Mister G for including us!!

And just recently I worked with Cheryl Procaccini, AKA “Birdsong” from “Birdsong and the Eco Wonders”, on her newly released song “Spider Song.” This time recording the main vocal for the song. The results were very satisfying, and again, was like working side-by-side with Cheryl who is one of the first artists to work with me virtually many years ago on several of her award-winning albums. Who knew it would evolve into doing a complete song production someday? Take a listen. I think it’s one of our best efforts!
All this is to illustrate that there is some “better” in the “worse” times we seem to be living in now. We will not be stopped!! We continue to create!!
